Rumors of a swim stage to this years Swindon Half marathon proved to be false, however Runners, volunteers and spectators all had to gamely braved the rain for the 10th annual Swindon Half-Marathon.

With no extra ceremony for the decade’s celebration, and the first year the British Heart Foundation has organised the event it proved popular with those who took part.
Although©calyx_Pictures_Swindon half-1530 numbers were well down on last year possibly due to a steep rise in entry fees and the poor weather, over 1,500 people chose to take part in either the 13.1 mile big race itself, a 5 mile multi-terrain event or a 2 mile fun run.©calyx_Pictures_Swindon half-1479
The event, famed in the half marathon community for its unforgiving undulating course, goes from Pipers Way through Coate Water, Liddington, Badbury and back up Marlborough Road and down the slope to near the Nationwide HQ saw paths flooded, but the crowds turned out to cheer on the runners.

The half-marathon was won by Swindon extreme runner Nathan Montague, who said he was treating it as a training run for his up and coming 4 day marathon, previous winner Gary O’Brien was second with Mathew Simms third. The first lady through was Sarah Fraser with a time of 12:26:45.
