Rovers return empty handed.
Swindon Supermarine survived plenty of Paulton pressure to clock up a third straight victory in Southern League Division One South & West.
Goals from Chris Taylor 5, Ash Edenborough 44 and Josh Parsons 60, gave the hosts a 3-0 win over their promotion rivals at a cold Webb’s Wood Stadium.
Loan keeper Conor Thompson kept a clean sheet on his debut from Torquay, while Kyle Lapham return to the back line from seven weeks on the sidelines.
Marine scored after just seven minutes when Parsons set Dan Hilder down the right who saw his shot blocked and was half-cleared to midfielder Taylor, whose deflected shot rolled past the helpless Kyle Phillips.
Parsons could have doubled the score almost immediately but shot wide, and after that Paulton upped their game. Right-winger Darren Jefferies going close a couple of times, the second forcing Thompson to parry wide at his near post.
He then tipped a free kick over and Marine survived the resulting corner.
Taylor’s free kick was saved by Phillips but Paulton were unable to clear, and Parsons was able to deliver a low cross that was sent into the left corner by Edenborough.
The visitors went close as half time approached when a Barnes corner was headed against the underside of the bar and bounced down but not over the line, despite Rovers’ protests.
Edenborough played a crucial role in a superb third goal for the home side when the front man worked a one-two with Parsons finishing with Edenborough’s 20-yard shot being palmed onto the inside of the post by Phillips, Parsons was the first to react and slide the loose ball into the empty net.
