Brighton came to the County Ground under manager Gus Poyet, the former Robins assistant manager under Dennis Wise in 2006. Swindon went down by 2-1 with their goal in the 80th min by striker Charlie Austin, who’s just retired from football,
Cumbrians repelled by 4 goal burst from Town.
Swindon are hunting down a top two slot in League One after another big win.
Town came within a goal of making it a unique treble of 5-0 home wins as they swept aside Carlisle in the same way as Tranmere & Portsmouth before them.
The result leaves the Robins nicely positioned in 5th – just five points off the automatic promotion places with a game in hand.
Andy Williams was first to score again with a sublime piece of control and finishing in the 16th minute.
That was followed up by four-goal hero James Collins’ header twenty minutes later before Williams sealed the points with his second just after the break.
And by the time Raphael De Vita made it four, Town fans were already chanting “We Want Five!”.
“I am, of course, very happy for my team and the supporters,” commented Di Canio.
“Not conceding again gives me the greatest pleasure. But we still have twenty-one games to go and games will not always be so easy.”
