Swindon Town’s Andy Williams netted late on in a Capital One Cup match which should have seen the Robins through by a bigger margin.
Williams slotted home a Story cross after 83 mins., just as Torquay were adjusting after Elliott Benyon was stretchered off after being knocked out in a midfield clash.
Towns new signing Alex Pritchard had a penalty saved by Torquay’s keeper martin Rice.
Town now face QPR and former striker Charlie Austin in the next round.
