Swindon Wildcats took to the ice to face the visiting MK Lightning for a midweek fixture.

Despite a scoreless first period the away side would soon change things in the second, as Blaz Emersic was found alone in front of net to finish with a backhanded effort.©calyx_Pictures_wildcats_v_MK_7433

However the home side were soon drew level, as minutes later Floyd Taylor would pick out the puck from midair and redirect Sam Smith’s initial shot for a 1-1 game.

What looked to be a 2-1 lead quickly became 2-2 as Swedish import Jonas Höög would almost instantly even the scores once more, with a screened slapshot for a powerplay goal.©calyx_Pictures_wildcats_v_MK_7556

An even final third saw both sides push forward however after sixty minutes neither could break the deadlock.

With it came an overtime period and the chance to end the game with a next goal. A 4 on 4 situation left both sides pressing but when Swindon’s Jan Kostal was found ahead of the last defenseman, a diving effort saw the Czech forward slide the puck past Wall for the game winner. ©calyx_Pictures_wildcats_v_MK_7644

An overtime victory meant the home side could claim both points this night and continue to challenge for an illusive playoff spot.

Final Score: Swindon Wildcats 3 – 2 MK Lightning

Man of the Match: SWI – Pekkarinen / MK – McPherson
