THE SWINDON WILDCATS are delighted to announce that Swedish import Jonas Höög will be returning to Wiltshire for a third successive season, however Matt Towe has reluctantly been released from his contract even before he hit the ice.

Fan’s favourite Jonas Höög [pictured] will be returning to Wiltshire this September after the Super Swede agreed a new one-year deal with the English Premier League club.

Having been the clubs top scoring import for the past two years, which included breaking the 100-point barrier for the first time in his career last season, the 26-year old has agreed a deal that will see him return to the Link Centre for the clubs 2013-14 campaign.

Speaking to the Swindon Advertiser after the deal was agreed, Wildcats head coach Ryan Aldridge said: “The biggest thing for me is that you know what you are going to get with him every night.©calyx_Pictures_ice_manchester_6441

“Jonas gives you a chance to win a game and is a massive part of what we do. I’m sure everyone in Swindon wanted to have him back and so did we.

“He’s our new-age Daryl Lipsey as he’s one of our longest serving imports and hopefully he’ll be part of our club for years to come.”

Meanwhile, Aldridge was left disappointed when he revealed that forward Matt Towe will not be making his debut for the Wildcats this year after a change in circumstances meant that the highly rated forward has opted to pursue his education.

Speaking after breaking the news, Aldridge said: “It’s tough for us at this point to lose what would have been a key player, but understandably Matt is looking at life after hockey and to get a two-year University deal is too hard for him to pass up.

Indeed, the 25-year old forward was also left disappointed not to be joining up with the club and talking about his move said: “The chance to go to University was too big to turn down at this point of my life and it also gives me the opportunity to continue playing at the highest level.

“Obviously it’s disappointing for me that I won’t be able to join the Wildcats, especially as they will be competing for silverware this season.

“I have a lot of friends playing there too, so I genuinely wish the Wildcats the best of luck this season and thank Ryan [Aldridge] and the club for their understanding.”

Höög’s 2012-13 Season Stats: Played: 54 | Goals: 39 | Assists: 81 | Points: 120
