Roaring Wildcats blow out Flames
Swindon Wildcats looked to get back to winning ways as they took on the league leaders, the Guildford Flames. With Swindon collecting 3 wins from their last 4 outings, it was not long before the ‘Cats looked to continue their good streak.
Within minutes the Wildcats did just that, as Aaron Nell’s swoop behind the defensive line was picked up by Shane Moore and clinically finished to break the scoring.
Just under the ten minute and Swindon then had their second, as the ‘Cats top point scorer Jonas Hoog would feed Nell once more, for one timed successful effort.
A positive first period was then made that much better after the home side’s Henri Sandvik pulled a spin across net to tuck the puck under the pads of James Hadfield.
A consequent timeout was called by the Flames and with it, the swap of Mark Lee taking to the net.
The timeout seemed to be used effectively by the travelling side as Guildford would open they account before long. Dean Holland’s retrieval from a rebound would result in the away sides’ first, and a way back into the game.
However Swindon cut the celebrations short as an almost instant reply was found. A feed from in front of net would land at Jan Kostal’s stick and with little hesitation, would strike the top of the goal for a 4-1 game.
A powerplay chance in second period would soon see the ‘Cats make it 5, as defenseman Alex Symonds would collect on a chance on the back post for his first.
The Flames would find a consolation goal in the dying minutes of the third but despite a shot off the boards from Marcus Kristoffersson, Swindon had done enough to take both points this night.
